Seda Central Bloc Cebu’s basketball team has made an impressive debut in the Hotel, Resort, and Restaurant Association of Cebu Inc. (HRRACI) Sportsfest, securing a spot in the finals after a dominant victory over Kandaya Resort. The semifinal match, held on June 28, 2024, at Capitol Parish Gym, ended with a decisive score of 94-66 in favor of Seda Central Bloc Cebu.
Steve Castro spearheaded the win with an outstanding performance, scoring 19 points, grabbing eight rebounds, dishing out nine assists, and making five steals. His versatile play was crucial in setting up the team’s balanced offensive and defensive efforts.
Supporting Castro, Renzo Galdo added 14 points and seven rebounds, while Marcus Fuentes and Roger Caytuna each contributed 12 points. Adrian Padilla also played a key role, adding 10 points, two rebounds, and seven assists to round out the team’s well-rounded attack.
Guided by Head Coach Joel Anthony Co, Assistant Coach Catalino “BJ” Maurillo Jr., and General Manager Ron Manalang, the team demonstrated remarkable depth and teamwork. This achievement is particularly notable as it marks Seda Central Bloc Cebu’s first participation in the HRRACI Sportsfest, a prominent biennial event for all hotel, resort and restaurant members in Cebu.
“We are incredibly proud of our team’s performance and dedication,” said GM Ron Manalang. “Our balanced attack and strong defense were pivotal in our success. We look forward to competing in the finals and representing Seda Central Bloc Cebu with pride.”
The finals of the HRRCI Sportsfest are scheduled for July 21, where Seda Central Bloc Cebu will face the defending champions, Shangri-la Mactan. The entire Seda Central Bloc Cebu community is rallying behind the team, eagerly anticipating a historic victory in their inaugural appearance.
